Anyone do wars of the roses..?

Yep! War of the Roses for the first question, and then Battle of Bosworth and Henry VII for the second question (yeah, we have a great deal of diversity in our modules )

What question did you do? I chose question 11, "To what extent was financial weakness of the crown the cause for outbreak of civil war in 1455?" I don't think it went too badly actually, at least there were some nice questions compared to some of the other papers we've done for mocks at college :P

I did Russia 1881-1953
I did the question on the fall of the Romanovs and collectivisation.
Not feeling too confident really :/
I'm dreading the next exam, anyone else doing British political history option? ;(

So far my exams haven't been too bad but when it gets to Tuesday and I have to do my British History option I will want to crawl a few hundred miles away and hide
Which section are you doing, 1945-90?

Yeah I did that one too.. I found it alright
I'm really not sure about the Henry VII one though - I did how far he secured his reign (something along those lines)
I wrote about pretenders, rebellions, dating his reign back, marrying elizabeth and yorkist threats!!! Don't think I did enough detail though

Did Stalin's Russia, picked the opponents one, and Civil Rights, picked the Black Power one.

Not too bad, nice questions if worded in an annoying way.

I thought the Russia questions were fairly nice and wide, in comparison to some we've been shown in the past anyway...
Reply 187
If people don't know, the Russia questions was

How far was Nicholas II responsible for the fall of the Romanovs in 1917?
To what extent was Trotsky's leadership of the Red Army the most important reason for the Survival of the Bolshevik Government?
Why could Stalin's opponents not prevent him from becoming the leader of the USSR in 1929?
How far did collectivisation change Russian aggriculture from 1928-41?

I did Civil War and Rise to power, both of which i predicted would come up

For the Stalin Power Struggle question I split it into:
Triumvirate vs Left Opposition
Dummvirate vs New/United Opposition
Stalin vs Bukharin
and talked about how Stalin beat all of them using various factors e.g ability to manipulate the party etc.
Is this wrong?

I quite liked this exam, did Italy 1896-1943 and Germany 1945-1991, think it went ok, managed to balance my answers satisfactorily .

Question 10? How accurate is it to say the black power movement weakened the civil rights movement? If so, yeah I did it.

I was rushing at the end though, not to sure how that question went. :/

What about you?

Yep, that's the one!
Yeah, I rushed it too!
Not sure how great my points were :/

I answered questions two and five. Two was on the significance of Cavour in unification and five was 'to what extent does the rise of the PNF 1919-1921 contribute to the fall of the liberal system?' or something like that. The Mussolini question was structured like this:
Fear of socialism, weakness of the liberal government, the effects of WW1, fascist squads, the rise in popularity of the PNF.

I did the exact same questions, with the exact same points!

Haha, I took one look at that question for Henry VII and decided to avoid it completely, so I did the other question about how far the main aims of Henry's foreign policy were to secure his own position. I just talked about the various treaties - Etaples, Medina del Campo, Ayrton and the two Intercursus' - and how they either secured Henry, England or the dynasty. I did the same thing though, I'm not sure about the level of detail, but I'm hoping it was enough to get the grade I want :s-smilie:

Thank God. Haha, that's some relief. How do you think it went?

Sounds good, I usually would structure it something like that. But I didn't in the exam because I didn't feel like I would be able to link it to the question effectively and might become too descriptive, because the question wasn't why Stalin rose to power; it was why his opponents couldn't prevent it. Pretty annoying but I had to make that adjustment. Instead I alluded to the ways in which the contenders were unable to stop Stalin from destroying him (i.e. due to his role of General Secretary etc. which meant they were voted out at party congresses, was able to make the party pro-stalin, etc.) As long as you could link it back to the question and it was all relevant; actually stating how the opponents were unable to stop him rather than simply stating why he came to power, you could be in for a level 5.

If you answered it simply as how Stalin rose to power but were still analytical about it you'd probably get a level 4, which is still A-B grade territory depending on where in the level it is (somewhere between 19-24 marks).
