yhh but im pretty sure -20 is right because some of the past papers have a similar question and thats how theyve done it.

nah you get -20 when you solve the equation involving x^3, when y=g(x) is a translation of y=f(x) which was an equation involving 2x^3, i did the same thingas you :frown::frown:

So the y intercept was -10, not -5?

Yes, I got -10

Original post by superduperr
why is it (2x-5)??? :frown:

Because it was (x-5/2) which is the same as (2x-5)

Original post by jonny7bell
yeah thats what i did. Did you plus or minus the 3 from the roots in 12 iv?

I got the same as you, so whatever you did

If you have to simplify it fully, wouldn't you have to move the double division and make it 3ac/2?

sorry, that's edexel..

oh thank god
anyone here do ocr mei numerical methods today?
Do you guys reckon that most people wouldve found that paper harder or easier than the C1 in January? ie. Do you reckon the grade boundaries will be higher or lower than January?
Original post by superduperr
why is it (2x-5)??? :frown:

because they asked it for a translation of y=f(x) where it was y= 2x^3, so in order to get the 2x^3 one of the brackets needed a 2x in it, so annoyed i didn't see that

about the same i would guess

no dont think so...

for the K question... wasn't the formula
b^2-4ac < 0 not >, because there weren't any real roots??

Around the same, I did it in Jan and found them around the same difficulty! Well the section B of this was easier imo but section A was slightly harder than usual.

That's correct. I got -root5<k<+root5 for that question.

yeah and you got something like -sqrt5 < k < sqrt5
