plz help- M2 again

This is an M2 edexcel qs pg 29, qs 9

At times t seconds the position vector r metres of a particle P, of mass 3 kg is given by

R= (3t^2 +1)I + (24t-2t^3)j

a. find the speed in m/s of P when t=1
b. find the value of t when the velocity of P is perpendicular to j.

I got the first answer but I don’t know how to do the second part, can someone plz help me out?

thanks

It's perpendicular to j when there is no j (i.e. the vector only has an i component). That is:
v = (6t)i + (24 - 6t^2)j

We want 24-6t^2=0 => t=2.
