Can i only apply to one place through adjustment or am i allowed to hold offers from lets say 3 places?

You can contact as many places as you like, but you can only formally accept one offer. Start with the places you're most interested in and bear in mind that they may not want to wait around indefinitely for you to make your mind up which place you're taking.
