I think it just means you replace x with the value of 4

It just means find the value of g(x) when x is 4.

So find the transformed graph and then sub in the value for x, in this case sub in 4.

As per the previous poster, g(4) just means evaluate g(x) at the point x = 4. Have you not seen this notation before?
5a) You should have the trapezium rule formula in your formula book. If you don't have one then it's

h/2{(y0+yn)+2(y1+...+y(n-1))} where h=(b-a)/n

so h=(2-0)/4=0.5
when x=0, y0=root1
when x=0.5, y1=root2
when x=1, y2=root9=3
when x=1.5, y3=root28
when x=2, y4=root65

(0.5/2){(root1+root65)+2(root2+3+root28)} = 7.118
= 7.12 (to 3.s.f.)
