Well there are no lone pairs and it gives maximum seperation xD

So would I get any mark for my reasoning

U should

What was the reason for the Alkene to have a bond angle of 120 degrees and a shape of trig planar is it because the double bond is counted as a single bond as there is free restriction about the double bond

3 bond pairs no lone pairs, bond pair of electrons take up position of max separation/min repulsion

But I'm still right sio?

can't say i'm not the mark scheme mate.. but if the answer is there then you've nailed it
were there any questions below the bromate(V) dot, cross diagram? I think i might've missed a question or two :s-smilie:
Wow i remember getting those answers.. let's discuss more!!

keep posting yours, and help us out
Haha okay, for the mcq question about the structure isomers of halogeno alkanes, what did u put. I chose D for both parts of the question

no part a was D
part b was B

no part a was D
part b was B

the answer D in part a was 2 chloro pentane which is the same for both isomers a and c
however b was 2 methyl 2 chloro butane the one which is a square if u remember it had a CH3 group as well as chlorine on the carbon atom so the answer is B

this is how I thought

Why? what was the shape of B again?
B was the square with top right having an extra line for CH3 and a line for Cl

Yea the first part was D and the second part was B, first part D because it was the only one different (not cyclo) and B in the second one because it was tertiary, rest were all secondary...

but B was the only one which had 2 lines on the carbon atom on the top right
one line for Cl
the other for CH3

Here you go guys:

And by the way the Lattice energy value is -1046KJmol-1, so ignore the lattice energy value written in the paper.
I'll try to upload a model mark scheme for IAL chem unit-2 by Tuesday.
