Diffusion and Fick's Laws

We've been pretty much left in the dark with the whole diffusion section of our materials module (as a replacement lecturer was quickly put in place of the original lecturer for this module who passed away), so all I know at the moment are Fick's 1st and 2nd Laws. I know we need to learn how to use the 2nd law to answer these case study questions, but we weren't given any working :-/
Any help or guidance would be much appreciated. As I said, all I know are the 2 laws, and I'm guessing I have to solve Fick's 2nd Law in these applications.
