Help with as biology (the heart)

I've come across this question in my homework:

'If water were poured into the vena cava, through which vessel would it emerge from the heart? What does this tell us about the internal structure of the heart?'

I know that the water would come out the pulmonary artery but am struggling to think of what this shows. I was thinking that perhaps it shows the heart works to pump blood upwards?

There is 2 possible answers : vena cava or pulmonary artery
Pulmonary artery is chosen because water flows in 1 direction.
The bicuspid valves prevent the backflow of water into vena cava.
