Got an offer today for fashion buying management, extremely happy! Anyone else thinking of staying at student court in Wembley?

I am  although I've read some reviews that the noise levels there are near intolerable ... not sure if it's true

The TV Production interview was very different; nine of us with two tutors (and an intern observing). It was a group discussion thing where the tutors asked a question about the TV industry and we had to offer our opinions and argue our cases about it, and they make sure that everyone gets an equal opportunity to talk by directing questions to people who stay quiet! That was really interesting because it's a chance to hear from people who are applying to the same course! TV Production doesn't involve looking at a portfolio or anything like that, just the group discussion about the TV industry!

I have an interview for television production this Wednesday and was wondering what sort of questions were asked in the group discussion?
I'm trying to prep myself for it but have no idea what to be researching or what is relevant to what they will ask! I'd really appreciate any suggestions you have!

I know it sounds silly but I honestly wouldn't do any research if I were you! The questions were nothing to do with the course or the uni or us, they were all about the television industry and how it has changed and how it will change in the future. I think they want to see people who have an opinion and who can take part in a group discussion well and respond to other people's points of view and say whether or not you agree or disagree and why. The TV Production interview wasn't like any other uni interview I did so don't worry about it too much - really casual so not much you can do to prepare! Hope that helps

Hi guys!
My interview is next week (Contemporary Media Practice) !
They send me an email in witch says I have to right down an essay (In no more than 500 words, analyse and discuss an aspect that interested you within a recent: Film/TV program or Art/photography exhibition or Game/interactive medium or book.)

I need some help ... If someone could just explain a little bit more about this essay would be great!
Thanks!!!

Hey, well done on getting an interview!

500 words isn't very long at all so make sure you keep it concise and focused; make sure every sentence brings new meaning to your essay and try not to repeat things or waste time waffling.

By "aspect" I'm guessing it means one specific specialism such as cinematography, sound, set design, costume, hair and makeup, editing, dialogue, performance etc. Choose one which you want to specialise in in the future or if you don't know yet just choose one which there's a lot to say about in your chosen piece.

For your chosen piece find one which will stand out from others and demonstrates your passion for the subject. Have you watched something recently which you've really enjoyed? Why did you enjoy it? How would you have done it differently if you'd have been in charge?

The key words are "analyse" and "discuss". Analyse means find meaning in what you've seen, interpret it, talk about how you understand it and what it means to you. This needs to be very detailed and specific; use specific examples. Discuss means argue more than one point of view. Make sure you voice your opinion because they'll want to hear from someone who has a lot to say about the industry but also try to see things from other people's points of view. Everything in the media is polysemic so it has more than one meaning.

Hope this helps and best of luck for your interview!
