Self teach C1/C2

Hi,

I want to self teach myself some AS maths since I want to do it for A Levels and think it would be a good head start. I am doing the GCSE currently and am predicted A* and I know its a big jump to A level, but what textbook of amazon would be the best to self teach myself?

Thanks

It depends on the examination board you'll be with. I did the same with my Maths A-Level and found the Edexcel 'modular mathematics' series of books incredibly helpful. C1 is essentially just GCSE A/A* topics anyway, so in the worst case, just revise those over summer.
A good head start would be to ensure you fully master the gcse material that A level success depends on.
Either of these would be good.

I you do decide to make a start with C1 then the choice of best text text book will depend on which examiner you will take at A level. Although the syllabus is very similar for all A level maths, it's worth practicing questions set in the same style as the exam questions you will face.

Thanks, I am Edexcel currently and my schools exam board for Alevel is the same. Will definitely purchase it, thanks.

The best books to start self study of Edexcel A level maths are these, there is one for each unit
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Edexcel-AS-Level-Modular-Mathematics/dp/0435519107/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1417209962&sr=1-1&keywords=edexcel+c1+maths

But look for them on eBay at 25-50% of buying new

Do Check with your maths teachers if they use an alternative, it would be daft to splash out on a book if they use a different one.

The examsolutions web site it excellent, especially for edexcel students
