When to arrange tonight's plans?

I've just started dating a doctor (I think he uses TSR, hence the anon). We saw each other last night, and he asked me out again for Saturday but I told him I have a friend staying. He said he's working a bit this evening (and all day today) but that we could do something later on tonight. He didn't specify a time. I don't want to look pushy, but if he doesn't text me during the day, when would be a 'normal' time to contact him?
If he's working today then just keep quiet, one slip-up from a doctor (even if it's just to check someone's text) and he's struck off. You don't want to get the short end of the stick

Spot the non-NHS worker.

He'd have to kill at least 6 people to be considered for firing.
