Hi,
I've got a revision question...
If a compound cylindrical pressure vessel is made up of two cylinders (same material) of equal thickness, how can I calculate the most beneficial contact pressure.
I found a method that breaks this down into three stages:
1. Inner cylinder only under contact pressure
2. Outer cylinder only under contact pressure
3. Whole cylinder under internal pressure
The stresses were then added together to give the stress distribution through the thickness. However, the contact pressure was given.
Please help, I don't really have a clue where to start...
