Apparently (according to my friend anyway), if you contact them directly you can ask about doing other open units that are available. When you go on the website you literally just get given the choice on the sheet though so idk. I really liked the look of high tech enterprise tbh, although it looks like it may be a lot of work :P

I would suggest picking from the list you've been given, so that you are registered on the correct number of units. Then ask if you can choose something else. If you can find something else that your department thinks is acceptable, you can switch.

There's no guarantee you'll be able to find an alternative option that you want to do -- places on open units will be limited, depending on how many students have to do the unit as a mandatory part of their own course. So some units that are nominally available as open units may in fact have no space (or a very small number of spaces) for open unit students.

Must we choose from the list given? @_@ I don't find the list they gave all that appealing.

Also MEng here btw

I agree that the list wasnt the best but I just applied right away so that it was one less thing to do

Hi, I noticed that its cheaper to buy individual tickets for the three events that the wristband gets you into, as the tickets are £6 each (so £18 all together) while the wristband costs £23, so is there something else that the wristband gets you into to justify spending the extra money?

Don't buy any tickets. Wait until you get to Bristol then buy tickets from your JCR/The Union

I'm sure they'll be other stuff, don't think they'd intentionally try and rip us off. There was this that I saw on the website https://www.bristolsu.org.uk/ents/event/2800/ (still doesn't quite get it to £23) that said you can reserve a space free with a wristband. They'll probably be other stuff like that when we get there I'd imagine.

But then wouldn't I run the danger of tickets/wristbands running out?

I'm relaying the information given by second year Bristol students. That seems to be their advice and I trust it. If you'd like to have better information about it, you should go to the thread "Ask a current Bristol student" and try to get better help there if possible.

Oh okay great thanks. Yes I'm sure they aren't, just thought it was a bit strange :P Then there's also the Bunker Moving in party, which is ticketed for individual halls, but not covered by the wristband, so maybe there's something with that? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This rarely happens if at all. It's a marketing tactic to drum up ticket sales. Don't worry, your'll be fine

Yep  http://www.bris.ac.uk/it-services/news/2014/msoffice18sept.html
Think we need to get an email address or something from the university first though. After that we should be able to download directly from here https://products.office.com/en-GB/student/office-in-education

As above. What's unfortunate is that the second you graduate it'll stop working.

Has anyone tried/managed to register online?

Hello I just tried and it said that I am not eligible. Have you tried? And what happened?
Registration does open today - but can I suggest that you wait until the University is actually awake/at desks, and someone has flicked the switch..... Have another go mid-morning.
Academic Skills training workshops in the Winter term that are really worth going to (especially 'Academic Literacy') - remember there is a big step-up to University studies - this isn't the same as doing A levels or IB. Take the help on offer. http://www.bristol.ac.uk/students/study/workshops/
