Art and design foundation

What is the list of things you need to buy for art and design foundation? I will be taking this course in September and would like to have an idea of the materials I will need to purchase.

Thanks in advance 😊

Wait until you are given a list of things, or you might end up wasting your money on things you thing are cool but will never end up using.

If you are wanting to sting your parents for stuff before going, then a big portfolio would be useful. There'll be a reading list so there'll be some books to get. Or you could have a trot round The Works and get some sketchbooks and canvases. If they want you to get something specific, they'll tell you. Otherwise, turn up and see what they want. You'll get student discount at the shop then, anyway.
I'm going coventry

It's definitely best to wait until they give you an exact list...but just so you're ready for the first day...

A sketch book will definitely be needed alongside: pencils, a ruler, rubbers, black fine line pens and a thick one to go over drawings, scissors, glue and normal biro pens. Also a little note book to jot down ideas and/or notes will be helpful.
If it's a digital place, a laptop might be beneficial!

(Perhaps an A3 sketchbook + A3 folder too)

Hope that helps!

This what coventry university sent me.

An art box. You will need something to carry your equipment around. A fishing tackle box can be most useful for this purpose.
A range of pencils consisting of HB, 3B and 6B (at this stage do not buy any other pencils). Eraser (a good one), A range of coloured pencils/pens, acrylic paints (white, red, yellow, blue). 300mm metal rule, scissors and scalpel plus blades to go with it. A3 hardback sketchbook with good quality paper. Masking tape.
Notebook and pen.
Paint brushes different sizes; a chunky decorators brush and a few more refined artists brushes should be enough to get you started.
Pritt Stick, Spraymount.
A cutting mat (preferably A2) make sure you label this with your name in permanent marker.
ALL OF THE ABOVE CAN BE PURCHASED AS A FOUNDATION STARTER PACK FROM THE ART SHOP FROM THE 7TH SEPTEMBER 2015.
You will need to source the following:
One A1 drawing board 3 - 5mm thick (this cannot be purchased from the shop). Our advice is that a building merchant will cut out for you an A1 sheet of MDF much cheaper than you will be able to buy from any art shop. Label the board with your name in bold (permanent) letters.
A camera (digital/SLR/disposable, whatever!)
MOST IMPORTANTLY, BRING YOUR IMAGINATION AND A WILLINGNESS TO EXPERIMENT!
Later in the course you will need to purchase other materials such as a portfolio- this will be essential. The size of your portfolio will depend upon your specialism but if you wish to purchase one before the course starts the standard size is A1.
You will also need to buy any other media and materials which will relate to your own particular project as the course progresses
