y=x/1-x express x in terms of y

y=x/1-x express x in terms of y. I know the answer is x = y/1+y but don't know how it's reached. I tried putting 1-x to the other side and got y(1-x) = x but it's not right.

Multiply across by the denominator and factorise the x

You have started right. Continue to multiply out the brackets and then try rearranging and factorising.

I have x = y -yx, what do I do next?

rearrange to get all the x's on one side then try to factor something out

Add yx to both sides to get x + yx = y
Factorise the left side to get x(1+y) = y
Divide both sides by (1+y) to get x = y/(1+y)

x+ yx=y
x(1+y)=y
X=y/(1+y)
