The Student Room Group

Free?

In the UK you need to get an education from age 16-18 as well now, does this mean that it's free? If so does this only mean that they'll put you in some crappy local sixth form or college for free + you have to pay for better education or is it free to apply to a big variety?

At the end of year 11 you'll have the choice as to where you will study for either re sits, A levels or btecs.

Alternatively you can choose to pursue a apprenticeship where you will be taught a practical trade.

If none of the sixth forms or colleges in your area are good and you have the finances you could look towards public schools (fee paying schools) which may be academically better
