Referencing - APA 6th?

In academic writing (for Uni) we cannot say '14th'. The 'th' is slang. So I don't know how to write it. I'm trying to say '14th century'. Would the correct way to be to write it out in full as 'fourteenth century'?

Sorry, I missed the bit about APA. Removed my replies because they weren't helpful.
