Factors affecting purity of aspirin

what are some factors that may affect the purity of a substance (i.e. aspirin) and how these factors influence the purity of that substance (aspirin) that is produced.

I know that re-crystallisation would create a purer product but I need to know how the aspirin can get impurities in the first place

Some factors I have got are:

Decomposition products (hydrolysis)

a filler may be added to make tablet bigger

I need a lot more!

Reactions making chemicals may be equilibria and hence reagents remain.

Coproducts form.

Unexpected side reactions may happen.

One of the regents may have been in excess.

I think that may be enough!

could u possibly expand on this pls?

Equilibria involve reagents turning into products which turn back into the reagents.

The equilibrium mixture will contain both reagents and products, i.e. the reaction does not go to completion, i.e.(part 2) not all of the reagents end up as products.

I am too old to know about such things as PRSOM.

I had to look it up : (

:frown:
can someone tell me a few bullet points that affect the purity of aspirin
I don't think bullet points will affect the purity of aspirin.

I also can't remember what PRSOM means anymore.
