Study Tips

Organisation tips

1. Make lists of what needs to be done the night before. This will prepare you for the tasks which need to be accomplished the following day.

2. Check your list everyday and cross out any completed tasks.

3. Pack your bag the night before to ensure that you are not in a rush in the morning. Make sure you pack everything you will need.

4. Set certain times for studying, and other activities, and stick to them.

5. Set yourself goals and follow them. Don't just follow someone else's goals.

6. Work out how much study time is required, and plan accordingly. Don't forget to include breaks. About 20 minutes study followed by 5 minutes break should be adequate.

7. Make sure that any notes you write are complete as this will make it easier to revise from later.

8. Put the title and date on your notes as this will make it easier to keep track of them. Adding page numbers will also help when it comes to revising from them.

9. Work on the most difficult assignments and those with the closest deadline first. Save time for the other assignments.

10. Always stop studying just as you begin to find it easy. If you do this, you will want to go back to studying the next day!

11. Divide and conquer. If you have a large assignment, divide it into smaller, more manageable tasks.

12. Never allow work to build up. Always try to keep ahead of deadlines.

13. Use a calendar. Any assignments, tasks, exams or other important commitments should be written on here.

14. When you learn of an upcoming event, such as an exam, or deadline, write it immediately on your calendar to avoid the chance of forgetting about it.

15. Label all folders / drawers / books / boxes with their contents.
