Changing Uni - 1st year

Im currently in my first year at university. I want to change course & uni. My university don't offer the course I want.

1) Can I still apply through my school from last year? (I also took a year out)
Or do I have to apply independently?

2) If I got no offers I would want to continue on my current course. Is this simply a case of ignoring my application and continuing as normal?

I am going to email some uni admissions departments to see what they say, going by advice on other threads.

I'm sure you can apply through your school again, go in and ask your old head of year. They might ask you to apply independently and ask you to attach the reference seperately because thats what mine said.
