If you know English: German, it is the most similar language grammatically, structurally and how some words sound the same

if you want Spanish: if you know both Spanish + English, you will be able to speak to 80% of the human population, and while Spanish is significantly more complicated than English, its a beatufil language AND, you can also use it to learn Portuguese, because they sound so similar you can have conversation with a Portuguese person without knowing Portuguese with Spanish.

I say this as a person who is fluent in English and Spanish, able to speak German at a decent level and have been to Portugal for long enough to experience it properly.
