Newcastle university medicine course

Hiya!!!!
Ok so I'm currently in my second year of college and am applying for medicine, i was hoping some Newcastle university students could please give me some advice on the selection and interview process so i can see how strong my application would be and just to sorta be on top of things.

My ukcat score is 2620
situational judgement band 2

would really love to know about what the campus and course is like, accomodation and support etc.

I've seen that the examinations are:
40% written
40% coursework
20% practical

i have read up a lot on the uni but i would like to know things that the uni doesn't tell you
Thank you so much!!!!!

Hi Aminah 14,

Great to hear that you're thinking of coming to Newcastle

Have you checked out our student blogs? They give a great insight into all aspects of life as a student here including accommodation, the city etc: https://microsites.ncl.ac.uk/oncoursetoncl/meet-our-students/

Here's some which are particularly relevant to Medicine:
https://microsites.ncl.ac.uk/oncoursetoncl/ask-med-student-anything/
https://microsites.ncl.ac.uk/oncoursetoncl/life-newcastle-medic/

Our UKCAT threshold changes year on year, and in the past few years has ranged from 2100 - 2720 so you definitely have a strong chance of being within the threshold with your score.

Good luck!

Valentina
