Hello,

Which block is likely to be the least lively? I would prefer to be somewhere calmer and less rowdy.

Many Thanks.

go for chesil house, still in the town and close to purbeck and cranborne and above co-op. but a much quieter vibe in general. I wouldn't recommend student village as its out of town which ends up being really expensive getting to places. chesil has quite a few nursing students however it isn't just for them, my friend is currently in chesil and likes it xx

Hi everyone, for anyone trying to find out about how sociable each of the halls are I'd recommend getting in touch with the ResLife team. They live and work in each of the halls and know all the ins and outs! Please do consider though that what may be full of party animals one year may not be the next, halls are really popular with freshers so generally socialising is high on the agenda. Be sure to check for any noise curfews that might be in place in each halls though.

The ResLife teams can be found here.

Thanks! Heard anything about Home Park?
home park is pretty lively but not as much as purbeck and Cranbourne. its really nice inside though and its very close to old fire station which is a rlly good club. its not as close to the other halls but its only like a ten min walk to the other ones so its not really far. if you have any more questions let me know as im currently at bournemouth uni staying in purbeck but have pretty much visited all halls

What's the best way to connect to your future flatmates? I know their names as I've just chosen my accommodation and now know the flat address etc. Will I meet them before uni?
if your with unite students there is a pre made group chat on the app, if not try and find them on facebook to connect with them. there is no official meet up or anything before you move in. so its up to you how much or how little you get to know them

Hiya!
I'm a second year student at BU but when I first joined, I joined a group chat with the other flatmates which allowed me to get to know them a bit before I moved in which was quite comforting as it made the move-in less daunting. In terms of meeting them, it depends on where your other flatmates live as you might find it difficult to meet before you move in.
Which halls are you moving in to?
There are usually halls chats that are created where everyone from one building can join which will allow you to get to know others in your building too. Before I joined, I followed as many different Facebook pages as I could such as Bournemouth Official Freshers etc which helped me to find other coursemates studying the same degree as me and just general information about the uni.
If you have any other questions, let me know!

hey! Im Lily and ive gotten an unconditional offer to do 3D animation and vis effects. im looking at going to Bailey point as it looks amazing, just one question- does it have a laundrette/ any washing facilities? the website doesnt mention anything but im sure it must.... just wondering

Heyy! I've just firmed Bournemouth and chosen Bailey point too (floor 3, flat 15) and when I was on the tour they said they will have a laundrette and washing facilities. I looked online at all the other student buildings by the student housing company who are building Bailey point and they have them so don't see why not  xx
I've heard Chesil recommended as a quieter option

Hi

I can't decide between Bailey Point and Home Park. I've seen Home Park and really liked it but it looks like it's on its' own - away from other accommodation. Would it be safer to stay at Bailey Park (for coming home on an evening etc) ? Any idea when Bailey Point will be finished for viewings?

Many thanks

Hi, all of the halls are in close proximaty to each other but both Dorchester and Home Park are a short walk (5 mins) away from the other halls.

Bailey Point is situated next to Cranborne House, Purbeck House, Chesil House and Oxford Point. I do believe that Bailey Point had a showroom open for our recent open day so it may be worth giving the management team a call to see if this is something available to you as it's not managed by BU. Their contact details are: The Student Housing Company 01202 941315.

You can compare the prices, facilities and locations of the halls available here.

I hope this helps.

Hey everyone :h:

Got a specific question about BU accommodation? Head to our website for all the latest info on our different halls and if you've got something to ask then post it here and we'll come back to you.

All the best

BU

For those with conditional offers when is accomodation booking available? Is it after results day?
Hi everyone,
When do we have to book accomodation? For those holding conditional offers is it after results day or before?
If you meet the conditions of your offer on results day, BU will make your offer Unconditional Firm and you will be allotted a time window of 2 hours to book your accommodation which will also be on results day. Be sure to have an idea of where you'd like to live before then!

Here's the link with details of all the halls.
Here's a step-by-step booking process guide.

sorry just to make sure, you said we have 2 hours to choose our accom?, is the two hours universal for everyone or does it start when I click a link or something. what happens if I can't afford any of the accommodation left or if there isn't any? and what happens if I don't meet the two hour window of booking?
Hey, I'm a second year BU student so hopefully I can ease some of your worries!
Yeah everyone gets allocated a time slot and each person will get the same duration of time to book their accommodation. They normally give you a time slot on results day and it starts when the time slot says it starts (for example you may be given a 10am-12pm slot, therefore it will start at 10am) if you have Bournemouth as your firm choice which then changes to unconditional firm if you have met the entry requirements then you are guaranteed accommodation. I wouldn't worry about not having any accommodation space left for your preferred one because there are new accommodation blocks that are being built and therefore the demand for each building has lessened slightly. If you don't meet the two hour booking slot then you can still book your accommodation but it will be later on in the day usually when clearing students are then allowed to book their accommodation. Hope this helps,
Alice
