Hi Guys,

Im doing the EPQ as part of the Engineering Diploma (L3) and am stuck for ideas as what to do.

We HAVE to do an artifact as well as a report. :s-smilie:

I would love to do a project that was around the field of Civil Engineering but am stuck for ideas.

Any ideas on a Civil Engineering project where I could make an artifact too would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
HI

I'm thinking of doing an EPQ in Engineering too (Civil/Structural), I'm also a little stuck.

I think it's really hard though, especially if you want to design something (like an artifact. I'm doing the research one though) as we don't really have the ability to create/test things.

What I did (which actually led me here) was just typed 'EPQ Engineering into google'. Tbh, I haven't really found anything useful yet, but I'm just getting an idea of what others have done which vaguely relates to engineering. Why don't you look up current problems within a part of Civil Engineering which interests you and maybe come up with a solution to the problem? I'm not really 100% sure how EPQs work though, if you come up with a design that you cannot test (as you don't have the means to do so), but in theory it works, I'm pretty sure you could still get top marks.

Sorry, didn't really give you an idea there, but hopefully looking things up will help

Btw, how is the engineering diploma? I've heard about it, but too late for me to do it :frown:
I want to do one on an aspect of Civil/Structural Engineering. I have a real problem though because I want mine to be about designing a new sort of structure, which doesn't yet exist, but I don't have the means to test my ideas. If it works in theory, and you can show that it works in theory, would that still get you top marks??
Looking to do a report on spanish culture help appreciated
well i was thinking about doing it on some spanish traditions/festivals such as bullfighting, bull running, the castell (where they climb on top of each other and make a tower) and more that i will research. But i would like to explore if they are still...worth it because they are quite dangerous. So basically something to do with the dangers, health and safety, and the value of these unique spanish traditions. If theres anyone out there good at forming questions for my title please step forward :P

Hey guys,
Thinking of comparing German and English football from a business perspective for my EPQ. I can get a lot of mileage out of it and football finance is a hotly debated topic amongst the fans and experts but I was wondering if any of you had any thoughts about whether this is a feasible topic; or should I do something more sophisticated for want of a better word?
Cheers,
Tom
I am doing whether or not cannabis should be legalised.

PEACE
Im hoping to start my EP over summer, looking at the importance of physiotherapy in relation to strokes. Not sure if thats the sort of topic theyre looking for though?
I know I want to do my EP in Law, I just don't know what to specifcally do it on, as Law is such a wide topic and I don't know what to go more in-depth on. So if anyone can offer any sort of help, that would be realy good  thanks.
I've just been told about the option of doing an EPQ and I'm really struggling to think of a title that makes sense. I want to do it on autism and maybe the regression over time due to environmental factors. Does that make sense? Would that be the kind of thing their looking for in terms of a project question?
AQA EPQ was fantastic!

I did it on Alzheimer's Disease and I found out so much!

The great thing about it is it's down to you. You're the one who decides what path to take in your writing, and what research you do. So long as you can talk about it and analyse things you're sorted. Primary research is key but you don't need too much otherwise it'll bog down your essay.
Hi there everyone, im about to start my EPQ and i want to do it on Law. I have no idea what part of law to do but i was thinking someing about the super-injuctions? if someone cud give me some help on possible questions or angles id appreciate it

I dont know much about law but I assume you can specialise in different areas like criminal or family?

Maybe think about which interests you the most and say if you wanted to do criminal you could do something about prisons (maybe How effective the current system is?) or for family maybe something about adoption?

Ignore me if im talking a load of rubbish

hey...sorry ...but may i just ask what the epq is? i am a little confused. although i have researched it, my teachers are also a little confused about what it really is. In fact, some have not even heard of it. Is it like an A level, which you undertake throughout the year, or is it something you could complete over the summer to prevent it disrupting my A levels? I appreciate the help.
Thanks
i want to do one on engineering too, anyone have any ideas for questions?
preferably on structures

Hey, I am starting to think about my EPQ and want to do it on something to do with geography as that is what I want to do at Uni.
I am especially interested in human geography.
Any ideas?

I don't really know about human geog ideas... but maybe look at some university websites you like the look of, see what the human geographers are researching and see if you'd like to look at something similar? That way you'll impress the university too ^.^
its the extended project qualification. look on aqa's website and it will explain.
I finished mine in March and like you, wanted to do it Law related. I can't really tell you what to do, it's a lot more enjoyable if you decide from your own research rather than getting it from another person. I'd recommend looking at news articles and just note down anything which would interest you in looking in more depth, than begin researching some. I began wanting to do something along the lines of miscarriages of justice after reading someone post it on here, yet after a while realised it was a bit too generic and not something I really wanted to do. You also don't need to have a clear title straight away, just a direction. I know I didn't finalise my title until around February and the amount of times I changed it meant I couldn't have a definite title anyway.

I know I want to do my EPQ on Aerospace Engineering or on the van de graaff generator , or something in physics but I'm not sure what I can research on those subjects  Can anyone give some ideas on any topic I can research. Thanks
I've done about half of it but some it is copy and paste. will they know that when marking it?

Can I ask what kind of stuff you researched/wrote about, and sources? Or even your project? I know this sounds odd, but I'm really honestly not planning to use your ideas, its just my granddad has it and I want to find out all I can.

I'm doing mine on assisted suicide.
