Can I change degree from biological sciences to biomedical sciences

I got accepted into biology from aberdeen uni but I got declined for biomed from them because it needed better grades, I was wondering if I could change during the first year or at the end of the first year if I get good results in biology.

I contacted the university already and they said they would get back with more info but they havent, have you heard of this being possible where one can move to a higher degree if he does well in the first year? (will I progress to second year biomed?) or is this not possible at all.

What are the modules for each course in the first year. If they’re different then you will struggle to switch without restarting

Hi,

The same happened to me. I applied for Biomed and got into Human Embryology and Developmental Biology. The offer said: "This offer is for the Bsc. Good performance in first year will allow you to transfer to the Biomedical Sciences programme in year 2."
I then emailed them and asked how the change works and this was their response: "The first year of biomedical science at Aberdeen is exactly the same as the first year of any of the medical sciences so there is the possibility to transfer from a medical science into biomedical sciences at the end of first year subject to your grades; this is a simple internal transfer form and does not require you to reapply through UCAS "

I hope this is a help to you but if you´re still unsure I would email them and ask.

thank you for this, I dont think biology counts as a medical degree though so im not sure what I can do. I guess Ill just ask at infohub during freshers? I heard if I do get the change during the first year I have to pay 25% of my tuition fees though, guess I just need to perform well in first year for the second year transfer?

Edit: I found that the modules in your course in yr1 are the same as biomed

If only 2 modules are the same then you would have to repeat first year to switch. The modules need to be identical for a switch without repeating a year.

I am keen to do a course in Biotechnology. If I start my course in biomedical sicience or in biochemistry, can I later change in second year to Biotechnology?
