A quick question for all you math buffs!

So the story goes I was watching a kids TV quiz show the other day and there was a question that goes a little something like below. I got it wrong and had to have someone explain to me how its done. I was pretty ashamed at myself being pretty good at maths all my life and getting an A in both A-level math and further math. Just wanted to know how the rest of you math geniuses get on!

Q. A doctor gives you 3 pills and tells you to take one pill every half an hour. How many hours pass until all the pills are taken?
