Student loan

Hi,
I am a British Citizen who has been working in the UK for 6 years.
My 18 year old son will be joining me next year on an ancestral visa.
As I have been a taxpayer for so long, will this have any bearing on him being able to secure a student loan?
Thanks

Hi there, what nationality is your son? When does his course start? What date will he arrive in the UK? Thanks, Karen

He is south african. Will arrive next year but we haven't chosen a course until we know whether he can get a loan. Hoping because of my years of work it might count!

Unfortunately he wouldn't be eligible to apply for student finance on an Ancestral Visa. He would need to hold Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in his own right in order to be eligible to apply for funding. Thanks, Karen
