Did anyone get how to prove Q23 (second last question, triangles with ratios for side lengths)? It’s the only one I was stumped on, and it’s REALLY bothering me.

Lmao I assigned values to the biggest side and used the ratio of the triangles to actually find the areas. Took so long but I did manage to prove it I think?

I used 4 as the bottom of the biggest triangle, so then I got 2sqrt2 over 3 for the small triangle, 16sqrt2 over 3 for the middle trapezium and 18sqrt2 for the big one, which simplifies down to 1: 8: 27

you had to talk about scale factor and how area of a trapezium is area of big triangle take away area of small triangle

Oh I did that hopefully I get some marks

did everyone get 4 as the integer for last question?

Yes, this is the right answer
what did everyone get for Q5? it was the “triangle is 10cm2 more than rectangle area” thing

For q23 I labelled the sides as x 2x and 3x on the right and y 2y and 3y on the left calculated the area for each side using 1/2abSinC then when I get to the ratio I cancel out the xySinC.

Can anyone explain the ratio proof one? I got to it but I had to switch some values ;-;

you had to make c = in both sides so times the first by 7 and the second by 2 and you had to make what c = the same so times the first by 21 and the second by 20 then you get 14a:20b:35c = 126:500:525 and you work out each value a = 9 b= 25 and c =15 then 9=25 = 34 and 25+15 = 40 that gives ratio of 34:40 witch can be simplified to 17:20
