Leeds vs. Birmingham Biology 2023

Hi, I am struggling to decide between leeds and birmingham for biology as my firm, would anyone be able to help/give advice?

for birmingham i have applied for year abroad, and with leeds they say you can choose a year abroad in first year.

the grades are both AAB

Both are grear unis. Birmingham is a campus uni and Leeds is more integrated into the city. Have a look at the modules for each year and that may help you decide. Biology topics will differ based on the expertise of the teachers in each uni e.g. specialism in insects in one and sea animals in another.

Which course do you prefer?
Check the optional uni options for all years of the degree.
Which would you choose if you actually went there.

Look at the YouTube campus tour films for each Uni - and the tourist films for each city - and think about the reality of living in each place.
Hi em46,
Firstly congratulations on getting into both Universities. I am a current second year student and a student ambassador at Birmingham City University I would love for you to choose BCU as your university as it does have many great opportunities as well as being a great helpful and supportive community. However, before accepting your offer via UCAS, I would recommend going to some taster days at both Universities these allow you to get a feel of what study is like, from this you can then decide where you think you will thrive

I would also suggest creating a pros and cons list of both Universities and see which in your opinion is the best fit for you. I understand that Leeds offers a year abroad within your first year and Birmingham offers it between the second and third year, but perhaps establishing friends and a routine within the first year would be more beneficial than going abroad straightway.

Let me know if this helps
