can i remove imac 2011 hard drive with the data and view it on a pc

So my imac crashed like imac can not boot and while it is loading with the logo before you type the password, the screen freezes and pixelates.
I am wondering if it is possible to remove the SATA hard drive in the imac (which has a lot of data, 300GB of it) and view this on either another apple device or PC?
I am worried the hard drive is not formatted for the PC? Also, I hope the problem with the imac is just the graphic card and not the hard drive itself. I do not want to lose data whilst trying to remove the hard drive either.

Thanks
Potentially, providing its not encrypted. Download any Linux Distro (don't use Arch or Gentoo. Go for something user friendly like Ubuntu) and burn it to a optical disk or USB flash drive; if you need help let me know. Then select the "Try it" option, go to the file manager and hopefully your drive will show up like a USB. Then simply plug in a flash drive or whatever else you want to use and transfer the files over. Easy peasy!
