How much can I earn as full time student?

I am going to be studying a full time Msc in September, for which I will receive a full maintenance grant, and I am looking at working part-time whilst studying to help support myself.

How much can I earn as a full-time student per year, before this affects the maintenance loan I am receiving? For example, if I earn over a certain threshold, will my maintenance loan have to be reduced by Student Finance England?

I am over 25, living independently in London.

Thank you!
There’s no limit on your earnings as a student.

It’s only unearned income that would impact your loan amount.

Hi Greengirl159,

We don't take the students income into account as long as you haven't applied as a Migrant Worker or your employer isn't releasing you to attend the course. Your can find out more information on Postgraduate Master's finance here https://www.gov.uk/masters-loan/what-youll-get

Thanks,
Claire

Hi Claire

Thanks for your reply. I may continue working part time (14 hours per week) for my current employer. The course isn't linked to the field where I am working.

Does this affect my loan?

Based on what you have advised it won't affect your loan.
