Luckily in London you are blessed with many great Psychology departments. If you are interested in a more flexible option say blended learning with 50% attendance of 100% online (with the option to call in on site for support etc) Arden University has a base in London. I did my MSc Psychology conversion course there and have worked in education for 10 years. I would say for any provider check their report with the QAA (a bit like Ofsted) and their Teaching Excellence Framework Report (both readily available online).

Hi :h:

Looking to start your psychology journey with a university that not only offers a high-quality education along with career support but also has reasonable entry requirements and proximity to the bustling city of London? Well, look no further than De Montfort University (DMU) in a student city - Leicester

As a Psychology student at DMU, I will gladly share my insights with you.

1. DMU offers a wide range of psychology programmes: Apart from a Bachelor of Psychology, we also have available Psychology with Criminology, Psychology with Education Studies, and Psychology with Health and Wellbeing in Society. In all cases, you will gain a general understanding of theories and research about mind and behaviour. However, these more specific courses allow you to start gaining targeted knowledge and experience from the very beginning.

2. High-quality education: It is accredited by a British Psychological Society course that allows you to access further training for specialist Psychology careers. You will also benefit from Education 2030, which uses a block learning system. While one subject is studied at a time, you have more time to engage with your learning, receive faster feedback and enjoy a better study-life balance. You will also have the option to complete a work experience placement, a part-time and paid internship alongside your studies, or a student exchange programme (I am studying in Bilbao right now ). Finally, DMU offers excellent facilities to enhance the acquisition of practical skills.

3. Proximity to London: DMU is conveniently located just a short train ride away from London (I visit a lot as I am a big fan of London :colondollar:). Studying in Leicester means a more quiet and affordable environment. It is a city full of students where you will easily adjust and find your community!

4. Reasonable entry requirements: DMU is known for being inclusive and welcoming to a diverse range of students. They understand that everyone's educational journey is unique, and their entry requirements reflect that, making it an accessible choice for many aspiring psychologists.

5. Career opportunities: DMU places a strong emphasis on employability. They offer career support services and various career-focused initiatives, and have strong connections with industry partners, which can greatly enhance your job prospects after graduation.

I highly recommend articles I wrote about being a Psychology student at DMU and why I would choose DMU again. They will give much more full view of the university itself and your course of interest.

Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions about DMU or studying psychology.

Good luck with your academic journey!

Hey!

I'm definitely biased but can 100% recommend Kent! I didn't initially choose Kent and actually transferred here in my second year from a different university, but have since gone on to do my master's and am now doing a PhD here as well! I'm now going into my 5th year of being at Kent, so I think that shows how much I like it  It's also decently close to London (around 30-40 mins away by high-speed train)!

Also, as someone who's experienced 2 different universities, I found the teaching at Kent much more supportive. If you are interested in research/going on to do a master's or PhD, Kent also has some really cool research facilities, like a VR lab and a bar lab (where you can test the effects of alcohol on various behaviours, which I think is very cool). I also really like the campus as it's on top of a hill, so has amazing views of Canterbury and feels quiet and separate to everything, but is only a 15-minute walk to the city centre.

In terms of stats, the psychology department is:
- 8th in the UK for Psychology in The Times Higher Education's World University Rankings 2023
- 16th for Psychology out of 118 UK institutions for graduate prospects in The Complete University Guide 2022
- 14th in the UK for Psychology QS World University Ranking 2023
- 88% 'world leading' or 'internationally excellent' research environment in the REF2021

Hope this helps!
