Hi, thanks for the reply. What I am referring to is the ‘white space questions’ we answered as part of the application, not the self assessment. ie describe a time that a pathology report had impacted on a case you dealt with etc.

No it will not be added to score

Does anyone know why we were asked or do them if they are not added to the score? 😂

I am wondering if they use the answers to the questions as well as the score to decide who to invite to interview. We never know.

My theory is it’s to put off the people who aren’t really interested in histopathology from applying.
Based on increasing yearly competition ratios and applications. I think below is most likely for scoring this year:

20-25: danger zone for no interview
26-29: likely interview
30-39: interview most likely
40+ interview certain

Maybe white space questions get used to determine if there are multiple people on the cut off line.

I didn’t make it past the interview stage last year my rank was 145

Hello everyone. Please how do I know if my appeal for self assessment score has been received or not. I submitted an appeal yesterday but I did not get any mail to confirm that my appeal has been received.

I do not believe it’s about being successful.
There are limited number of posts and the number goes down each year.
So, people can get a good self assessment score and pass the interview but only limited number of applicants will be offered the job.

Then it would be interesting to know if anyone last year with a low self assessment score, made it to interview, was successful and actually got a job.
Is 54 a good score

Also how many people invited to interview vs offers I assumed around 2:1 ratio

Anyone else slightly worried about the number of posts in various regions - seems like a lot less than in previous years? https://medical.hee.nhs.uk/medical-training-recruitment/medical-specialty-training/pathology/histopathology/overview-of-histopathology/posts

Slightly worried is an understatement.
