GAMSAT 2024 is online

]Registration for March 2024 GAMSAT sitting is now open

BAD NEWS - the Written Communication section is now taken remotely online!

All students taking the GAMSAT must install ProctorU on their devices.

Students must buy expensive computers and webcams on top of paying GAMSAT fees.

WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM?

1) Cost

ACER: massive savings on venue hire!

Price of GAMSAT: same as before!

2) Privacy

ProctorU records your face (faceprint), voice (voiceprints), iris or retina, IP addresses and device identifiers, and more. They sell all this to third parties (see user agreement below).

This is the same ProctorU sued for violating the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), after a data breach leaking the identifying information of over 440000 people.

3) Bias and Discrimination

How would you like to have your GAMSAT interrupted by the software when it decides you are cheating? For no reason other than not being a neuro-typical white cis man. Sorry, lads with ADHD, this excludes you too (sources below).

You ought to be VERY against remote proctoring if you are: a woman, not white, have any disabilities or impairments (or are just a tad fidgety), gender diverse, or any combination of the above.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

Please post your suggestions in this thread!

Academia doesn't need proctoring!
