Social life at unis

London, Nottingham, Cardiff, Bristol, Loughborough, Southampton and Birmingham.
These are unis that I am considering and I’m looking to see which has best social life. I previously went to KCL but dropped out because the social life wasn’t great and it was difficult to make and keep friends.
Any experiences would be nice
Hard to say. I have friends went to most of those unis (except for Cardiff and Loughborough) and their social life are fine.

But if you are struggle with making/keeping friends, it's likely something you have to work on rather than hope the uni offer. There are simply too many people at any uni that the maybe no one 'click' in the first dozen (if not hundred) people you meet.

Hi there,

I have completed 2 years at Loughborough so can give you some insight. Loughborough is very much a student town and there is always things going on. During the week most social events happens on campus through the Student Union. For example there tend to be 2 nights out in the week (Wednesday and Friday) and events during the day which differ week to week. Take a look at our student union website for more insight here. At the weekends more seems to happen off campus. Loughborough has multiple pubs, bars, restaurants and nightclubs which tend to be full of students at the weekend. The only thing I would bear in mind is that Loughborough is a town not a city so cannot offer what big cities do. However, we are very close to Nottingham and Leicester and quite often go there on the train for bigger nights out. This is pretty easy to do so as they are both about 20 minutes away via train- the train station is close to campus and there is a bus shuttle every 10 minutes.

Loughborough is also very sociable through sports and societies. For me personally playing sport has been a great way to socialise and make friends. We not only offer competitive AU sport but also IMS which is where you play against other halls which is great fun!

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions pleas feel free to ask 🙂

Hi,

It's great to hear that you are considering studing at Southampton. Southpamoton offers a great social life for students. The University boasts over 400 clubs and societies that you can join as well many events and facilities both from the university itself and from the students' union. Outside the university, the City's population is about 20% students so there are a wide range of different clubs and bars across the city, which make for a good night out no matter how you spend it. Southampton also has various activities to do during the day.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask
Best of luck
