Red blood cells help (anaemia?)

We're doing a mini project at uni where I've had to do OCSEs (Objective Structured Clinical Examinations) of some patients who have something wrong with them and then run tests to get a diagnosis.

I think one of my patients has anaemia (cold, tired, fainting, glossitis and sores on the side of the mouth).

Today we did RBC count, blood smear and a haemoglobin colorimetric assay (which failed due to the group we were working with messing up the standards)

RBC count was 800 000 /mland for the blood smear I got this (be kind its my first time doing smears) am I right in thinking these might be acanthocytes indication iron deficiency anaemia?

for comparison this is what I got in another patient who I don't think has anaemia.
