hello, i'm having trouble working out how to do the second part. i tried using algebra and making some complicated simultaneous equations to solve, but it's not getting me anywhere.

You could use (sub in) the two points and solve the two linear simultaneous equations to get the terms u_x^2 and u_x*u_y, then once you have those values you can get the speed and angle.

A slighly quicker way to get started might be to think about the point (range) when y=0 using the fact its parabolic motion. Though the simultaneous approach will get you to the same point.
