maths in chemical engineering degree

would there be more mechanics (moments, projectiles etc) or (alevel) pure maths in the course?
applied maths is killing me and if it is mostly applied maths i'd rather find out now rather than later

It’s really both. Mechanics/engineering mathematics at degree level uses the “pure maths” tools you start to learn at A-level such as calculus, linear algebra etc. however ultimately engineering is really applied physics and as such you will have to apply the maths in the context of forces & energy (and related phenomena).
