You may want to email or phone the university and explain your situation, I'm sure they'll be able to change the address they've got on record for you and/or email you the relevant stuff. AFAIK you do not need to return your AS12 letter for York, they will assume you accept your offer unless you say otherwise.
You can pay for accommodation by cheque or by direct debit, and no it doesn't need to be the same account as your tuition fee payment.
You'll receive all the details of your accommodation, including move-in date and rent due, a week or two after you apply for it. If you've applied as an international student, you'll also get info about the Orientation Week, which happens the week before term starts. You don't have to come along for that if you don't want to though.
Official move-in days are 10th-11th October, you get told exactly which one with the rest of your accommodation details. The uni can be lenient though if you can't get to York on the day they prescribe you for.
