had my second off today, was braking hard and diddent see a man-hole cover. bike is quite broken, but repaireable. and i've broken my arm :frown::

Hope it heals quicky, ive been really really lucky with my offs. Get spare gloves, you can never have enough (says the girl whos up to 4 pairs). Hope it doesnt cost you too much.

i crashed my mountain bike properly once and broke my arm, so while in plaster, i fixed the bike and carried on riding it, crashed it again and broke the same arm in a different place

You wally! :P i've only ever managed to skin myself with the mountain bike, all 3 times on gravel. but i did heal between each time, and never broke the bike when coming off. Infact i ahvent broken a bike since getting my rockhopper.

this was a specialised big hit, bent the rock shox boxxers :p: it was supposedly an indestructible downhill bike with equally solid forks.

i got into proper bikes with engines after that

My rockhopper has taken everything i've thrown at it, including a car so far. But this is my 3rd as they keep getting nicked. Im safer on it than the SV.

Theres not really any nice places round me to use it though. :frown:

2 of my brothers where really into mountain bikes, so much so that we have a ground anchor fro bicycles, not motorbikes.

my brother once came off on his way to school, and would have gottem back on n finished riding to school if his bike wasn't broken. quite lucky really, he had 2 broken bones:p:

My winter ones help with the wind which is why mine get so cold, coupled with the mits for my heated grips which keep most of the wind out. Also look for ones that have a bit on the thumb to clear your visor when it rains. that helps me alot. - apparently its called a visor wipe.

imho, there is not much point advising someone to get £30 helmet or whatever.

I saw this and thought of you :p:

they where giving out rubber things to go over your existing gloves to do that at the London bikesafe show. it was great until it fell off...
one thats attached i think will be better though, and those gloves are only £45. thanks, ill look into those, ive got a while with only one hand, gives me a chance to shop around a bit.

got a proper cast on today, need to get another x-ray next week to check if its healing properly, if its not i may get some metal in my
arm

At least they'll correct it if its not healing well. I've never had ones that attach, only the ones already on the gloves- although my warmer gloves dont have a visor wipe, so i just sort of smear my hand over my face and get a wet glove.

I missed this earlier

My bikes are only stored in a garage now, i cant afford to lose another one as the insurance will get too much. If i go away it gets stored in the house not the garage as im so paranoid. Before i got the rockhopper bikes kept disintegrating, especially on the way to school, and apparently that wasnt a good reason for being late. pedals falling off, i managed to snap cog, buckle the wheels, one i went through the frame on. All on seperate bikes.

ive had a few brake on the way to school, not quite the frame though.
my first proper bicycle, kona dew £300, stolen just 3 months after i bought it. i had been away on a cadet camp, and got back to a gap...
on my current bike, i bent the sprocket on the way to school, thats about the worst brake ive had.
allthough i did once come off by my school entrance due to ice :p:
Hmm my indicators aren't working - the flasher unit whines whenever i turn them on and no light is produced (Damn it!). and I need to go somewhere tonight.

Hmm...Arm signals methinks?

In the dark and wet?!?! another means of transport. Check no wires are loose, and bulbs are plugged in.

I need to replace the visor, when goin round the uk a lorry decided to ignore the 10mph restriction, with gravel on the road and i got a bit hit the visor by my left eye (thankgod i was using the visor) thats something thats gonna get replaced at m&p

Its the worst feeling when you realise your bike should be in the gap. I;ve not managed to even buckle the wheel on my current one, and its been 3 years. I think my offroad tyres helped when cycling to work in the snow this year as i managed to stay upright, shame many others didn't. But there was no way i was motorbiking in. hmmm wonder if the bike will fit in the merc to go down to wales...more to the point would robin let me get the car dirty..
got sideswiped today in nottingham, the guys mirror landed in my lap, my crash bung took out pretty much every panel on the guys near side out.

pulled into bus stop, he was following, i jumped off, he obviously didnt like to look of me, 6'6'' with gear, and sped off, not before i managed to punch his near side window out haha titanium knuckles are pretty damn good

At least you got him back! he might think next time.

See at least when you challenge people you have height on your side. I end up playing how can you try to kill me? im only a poor little girl (who is currently being really good and not wanting to hit you..)

For people whos brains have no value. Or at least, a value of £18.

Anyway, im fed up of my bike now, its too cold. Ive got a ****** bad throat and runny nose from going to and from uni without my neck/face warmer thing on, its too much hassle. From now on i'll walk from the car park rather than taking the bike. Brrrrr. Plus its starting to get slippy at night, pulling out of a junction and accelerating the back wheel had its own ideas about where it was going. When the car is sliding around the bike is defiantly staying in the garage.

Plus, how often do you service your bikes? Mine has done 1000 miles since ive had it, and many of those were short 2 or 3 mile journeys, is it about time for an oil change?

I'm biking down to surrey for the next 3 weekends, please dont tell me its horrible already..

Servicing, mine gets the chain looked at once a month so thats about every 500 miles, along with checking the brakes, and complaining that i think somethings wrong then the oil i didnt change for about 6000, my haynes says 4000 miles for an oil change and 11,000 for the filter.

It needs some chain oil, but i've lost my can. :frown:

Oil and filter will be changed at the same time, so it looks im good for a bit yet.

And yes, its horrible already! You'll be alright if you get dressed up in full gear, but for the 2 miles to uni I just throw on a helmet and jacket.

I always lose my cans (think my father nicks them) so half the time WD40 it til i can buy a new can. Make sure if you've used gritten roads to wipe any metal..

I'm always in full gear to go down to surrey, but had my thermals and my big orange jacket on top for warms and i've still got ice cubes for feet. it was dry until leatherhead, then the heavens opened so im wet and cold. M25 was solid before dartford thenn clear thankgoodness.

I had planned to leave at 2, then had to blood done first, and they wouldnt let me leave til gone 3. Then had to go home and gear up... next week should be quicker.
I went in for another X-ray today, told I don’t need a metal plate put in my arm, and the cast should come off on the 28th December, but i cant ride for a further 4 weeks after that
Well at least it gives me a month to fix my bike.

At least its good news...

And im guessing as we havent hit the frost yet, the weathers gonna get worse before it gets better, so that will just give the weather tie to improve . (as i look outside and the sky is blue)

Have your ordered the bits for the bike yet?

i think i have most of the parts allredy, as my dad used to have the same bike, so we have most of the bits allready. i was thinking of streetfightering it though , but may not work on a bike that tops out at 60.
