No. They're Scottish.

Only those from northern England are northerners.

You are unfamiliar with the term "North Britain", then?

Are you aware that it's not the 17th or 18th century?
Being from the north I'd class me as being a northerner and them as being scottish, not northerners
I'm Scottish and have never thought of myself as a northerner as I was under the assumption that that phrase was only for people in England?

Perhaps you should have a word with the Scottish universities' North Britain Student Forum?

It's amazing that an 18th century institution is still on Facebook, isn't it?

They took the term from the 18th century usage. It does not exist naturally in common parlance, rather it is a linguistic contrivance. Just as saying "self-murder", whilst previously commonly used, does not exist naturally in common parlance. No one would really every use "Northerner", especially by itself, to encompass people from the northernmost part of Britain.
I class everybody in Great Britain up from Birmingham Northerners and everyone down Southerners. I am a Northerner
Northen geographical wise but not accent wise, this poll is 50-50!

Really? You must live in a box. The result of the poll here disproves that claim.

People who took half a second to think about the question, and likely were expressing a normative view of what the term should mean. Yeah, but nah.

Ah! The well-known No True North Briton Fallacy makes an appearance.
