Edexcel S2 - 27th June 2016 AM

Please can anyone explain question 3c on this paper https://57a324a1a586c5508d2813730734691051ac35fd.googledrive.com/host/0B1ZiqBksUHNYZ3M4QzJ0N19IeHc/January%202002%20MS%20-%20S2%20Edexcel.pdf as I thought the distribution would have to change since there's only 196 seats not 200 but the approximation has been worked out using 200? Thanks :smile:

Yes but there are 200 tickets being given out and from those 200 passengers, X won't turn up where X ~ B(200, p). The whole point of them selling 200 tickets when there are 196 is that from those 200 people, a few won't turn up.

Was 2 your result for the mode? The p.d.f. is a parabola in between 1 and 4.

I'm honestly at the point where I'm thinking not to turn up to my S2 exam if I find out I performed well 70-75 ums (b) on M1 since S2 is just a backup module and the A* is from C3/4.

Any advice? I'm just procrastinating learning S2 as its dull/ not interesting like M1... :sigh:

I'm not the person to ask actually, Zacken will most probably have a better response. I don't know that much about how the papers are graded, how the scores are done... I just try to do my best.
Just take into consideration what you have told your offers, I suppose. Also, if you know 3/5 subjects well enough, your grade might not be all that bad.
And S2 shouldn't take that much effort to learn, although I was complaining about it too before I got down to doing it.

69.04 out of 75 for s2 - done all (R/IAL/normal) papers apart from 2015 (25 done in total) and got 4 solomons left

basically focus on pdf and cdf - rest of it is easy
