The answer to the balance equation was.
iron oxide + carbon iron + carbon dioxide2Fe2O3 + 3C 4Fe + 3CO2It's on bitesize and a simple google search

40 will be a B dont worry, i reckon the grade boundaries will be the same as last year and if they do it will only change by a couple of marks

How did you remember all of this??? And how are you certain that these are all correct/the only answer??

From what I've read, the only product is ethanol so this reaction produces pure ethanol and therefore is an advantage compared to fermentation

Damnit I think I only got about 40!!! :angry: I need 50 in all units to get an A* overall (due to my crap ISA grade)
I found this exam great compared to the Biology, hoping I got at least 50 out of 60.
Can I suggest an answer....
For the how to make the experiment more accurate (something like that) I wrote...
Put a board/something around the apparatus so not draught affects it and the flame is always concentrated under the flask so doesnt move about.
Because we did that experiment at school and the flame kept moving away from the flask as someone walked by for example.

Fermentation question: sugar is dissolved and yeast is added to make ethanol(2)

Advantages and disadvantages of crude oil vs plants: Crude oil is a continuous process so faster, crude oil is more widely available, crude oil more reliable and things are set up for crude oil fractions

Question on carbon neutral: carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas
This takes up CO2 when it grows in photosynthesis
The same amount is released when biofuel or oils are burned
So no overall increase in CO2
Continuous Carbon Cycle(3)

Last question on hydrogenation; 60 degrees, reacted with hydrogen, nickel catalyst, double bonds converted into single bonds, increasing boiling point, done so that's it's a solid at room temperature for a thick, spreadable consistency (5)

Mark somewhere for completing drawing of the alkane(1)

Bromine goes colourless somewhere(1)

i screwed up on last question because i said that it converts saturated to unsaturated whereas it was the other way round, but i still think ill get 2 or 3 marks for explaining health risks, margarine made this way, and solid at room temperature

i reckon the yeast question is one mark for saying yeast then one mark for saying a fermentation process happens

What do you think the grade boundaries will be A*-C for Biology and Chemistry this year (2016)?I think..

B = 28
C = 18

Chemistry:

A = 42

C = 21
