Boiling point is 100c and therefore boiling water has to hit that first, which you don't get out of the hot tap.

Because it would boil your hand when you washed the dishes.
Hot tap water is usually approx 50C, not 100C
A "boiler" isn't a boiler, it's just a water heater. It doesn't boil the water at all. You've been sold a lie. You need to sue someone.

I used to have pot noodles from time to time but now I buy packs instead. Cheaper and you can add your own ingredients as you please. and feels slightly healthier as a result

Your boiler is fine (boiler is a misnomer really, it heats the water, not boils it), you just need to use the kettle next time!

When it comes to the boil you need to hold the auto-off switch down to keep it boiling for the 2 mins it needs.
Then put it in the freezer until it comes back down to a suitable temperature.

Lucky for us, neither of us mod F&D. What was it that famous French royal said? "Let them eat semi-cooked pot noodle with water specifically too cool for cooking it and then write a post on an Internet forum about it to gain rep". I think I'm slightly paraphrasing.
