stuck on a c3 question

For question 4c for this paper where you are asked to find the rate of the decreasing of the temperature, how do you know you need to differentiate it?

Thanks

It's asking you to find the rate.

When you're differentiating, you're getting the gradient function - which is essentially a fancy way of saying you're finding the rate at which something decreases or increases.

Because a derivative describes the rate of change for whatever you differentiate.

The derivative is the rate of change of T with respect to t. So to find the rate at which the temperature is decreasing, find dT/dt, which represents the rate at which it is decreasing, then you can find it at any value of t.
