Applying for biomed in 2012, most of my work experience was for medicine!

So not alot of labwork...but hopefully later today will call up the local hospital and see if i can arrange some work experience (the joys of being 18)... But i also want to get some reading done on immunology or medical immunology....anyone know of any?

I did very little work experience; a little bit of volunteering at an old peoples home, back when I was naive enough to want to do medicine XD

Thanks for replying!! And yeah same here! When I got B in AS it was only a few marks away from an A  so annoying! and sorry but do you think I will need AMAZING GCSE grades to get into Kings with the predictions I have... :/ Mine were just average -.-..

Yuppp same, got As in the papers but my isa brought me down :/ I hope not! mine are pretty average too. I know they want a lot of A*/As if you're applying for medicine, but i think they just want average GCSEs for the other courses  Last year people got in with Cs and Ds so fingers crossed!

Sent my application 2 days ago, scary stuff!

Applying to Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, UEA and Nottingham Trent.
Worried my AS grades will put them off me completely even though i've done a fair bit of experience and predicted grades of AAB. I'll just hope for the best

Deadline for medicine has passed so theres not much choice. Besides, A*BB isnt enough for medicine. So, fixated on biomedical science for now.
Hi, I've applied for biomedical sciences at Sheffield, and Reading, and medical sciences at leeds, newcastle and birmingham.
I've got an offer from Leeds and an email from Reading about an ucas info day, i was wondering if anyone else was going to this day? xxx

When applying for biomedical science, do you actually need to choose your specialising subject just now i.e. neuroscience, genetics etc.?? Or are you just applying to Biomedical Sciences in general. And do all universities interview for Biomedical sciences?

im applying for biomed 2012

STILL havnt got 5 choices, so far i really liked lincoln, hull and my hometown uni of anglia ruskin is gunna be last choice, IBMS accreditation is a big thing for me as id like to work in NHS labs one day. Quite concerned i wont make the grades atm though, you lot are obviously a lot cleverer than me :colondollar:

AS was a bit of a shambles,, C in biology (resitting, hopeful i can get an A or B), C in Sociology, E in chemistry, E in geography, C in General studies.

BUT i did email lincoln andthey said they would accept general studies towards UCAS points, (great news), does anyone know if this is actually the case? pretty confident i could get the required 280 points with general studies, not sure without it. Also, any other uni's that would accept general studies toward Points? Cheers for any replies

nahhh just applying for general biomed now  but if you apply to cardiff you can choose what to specialise in on your ucas application. i think its, anatomy, neuroscience, genetics or general biomed  only manchester & oxford defo interview & possibly kings if you're borderline

I got into Manchester (and offers from Sussex, Durham, Reading and Newcastle) not having any relevant work experience, only a part time job. I guess things may be more competitive now, but I wouldn't worry about it too much

Yep Reading interviewed me when I applied!
I literally have no work experience for biomed, and my personal statement was really geared towards medicine, but I've still got 4 offers, so work experience can't be that much of a deciding factor!
