Thrid Year at Post 16

i'm taking a gap year before uni. is it possible to use this to earn more ucas points for my uni choice (if my results aren't good enough)?

Do you mean retaking subjects and/or doing new subjects in a third year at sixth form? Yes, you can do that. But I would only do it if your grades aren't good enough for uni this year. If you do get good grades and a place at uni, I would just leave doing more subjects and just take full advantage of the gap year as a rest from education, to do some work and/or travelling.

if your results are not good enough they won't accept you (I assume you are doing deferred). You need the grades prior to going on a gap year. If you don't get the grades you will probably have to reapply.
