Possible to switch?

I've got an offer to study medicine at St Andrews for 2010/11.

Initially I put down Manchester as the site where I wanted to do my final 3 years...but lately I've been having second thoughts and might want to do my clinical years in Scotland.

So the question is...is it possible to change (i'm a scottish applicant if that makes any difference)

the official line - no

for our year Manc is oversubscribed and thus they are allowing a switch next year on the basis of results - ie the better your 1st year grades, the more likely you are to be allowed to switch...

I don't know about previous years but I think there is always a small degree of flexibility although it's far from gaurenteed - if you have a manc offer you are much more likely to end up in manc (a good thing imo..)
