- Direct action – as it says – people engage directly in some sort of protest action. Examples might be things like trying to physically stop the live export of animals (veal calves for example) or, more recently, a “flash mob” descends on a targeted shop (vodaphone, topshop etc.) in an attempt to disrupt their business.
-Political action – using various political channels for action. Simple example might be organising petitions. Basic idea is that you use various legitimate and recognised political channels to get your message across.
-collective protest – general category that involves people acting together (collectively) in some way to engage in political protest – a protest march against foxhunting or Iraq war, for example,
-post fordism – “Fordism” denotes a particular form of mass production (involving the classic production line created by Ford motor company at start of 20th century). Big task, such as building a car, broken down into much smaller tasks etc. Post-fordism relates to different types of production processes – Just-in-time techniques etc. Also can relate to political actions in the sense of devising new and different forms of political protest (such as flash-mobbing – no central organisation, people come together in very loose, non-hierarchical networks using new media such as twitter as a way of organising protests / action).
