I'm very interested in applying to Medicine at the University of Dundee, and Aberdeen for entry in 2012. However, I don't know if I have enough work outside of school etc for them to consider my application!
In terms of academia, I have the minimum entry requirements. You can see them in my signature
Outside of school, I do a lot of voluntary work: around 5 hours per week of working at a local accommodation services for children/young adults with autism; I have the silver (working towards gold) Millennium Volunteering (MV) award for volunteering with a local charitable organisation who help voluntary groups with things such as funding, a place to meet etc. In school, I also do a lot of community work with other children with special needs in the school's specialised additional support department. Also, I'm the Head Boy in our school this year, and have been a prefect for two years.
In terms of clubs/other organisations, I'm a sergeant in the Boys' Brigade, having been a member for 11 years - also working towards gaining the Queens' Badge, which is equivalent to the Duke of Edinburgh Silver award. I also play keyboard and am working towards Grade 5 at the moment.
Finally, I've been organising an opportunity where I can shadow a local dentist once or twice a week for a while, and I'm also trying to organise a time when I can go out for experience with a community nurse sometime soon.
Do you reckon I have enough under my belt for them to consider an application in Medicine, or a medically-related subject such as Medical/Biomedicinal Sciences or Dentistry?
